FORMULA ONE 2024: WHEN IS THE EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX?

The 2024 Formula One season will feature a record 24 races, the seventh of which will take place in Italy this weekend.

The opening two races of the season took place in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and were both won in dominant fashion by Red Bull’s defending world champion Max Verstappen.

The third race saw Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz come out on tops at the Australian Grand Prix.

Verstappen was back to winning ways in Japan and China, before Lando Norris claimed victory in the most recent race in Miami.

Norris’s win was a popular one among his fellow drivers – and celebrities. Former US president Donald Trump was spotted in the McLaren garage pre-race.

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will take place at the famed Imola track on Sunday, 19 May.

The lights will go out at 15:00 (SA time).

The 2023 edition was cancelled due to heavy rainfall and floods caused by Storm Minerva.

As a reminder, the 2022 race was won by Verstappen with his Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez in second. Norris in his McLaren rounded out the podium.
