JAMES BOND: 007’S FASTEST CARS RANKED

A recent statistical analysis has identified the fastest cars driven by James Bond, with the 2007 Aston Martin DBS V12 taking the top spot as the most rapid.

Lifestyle magazine Dailybase conducted research that assessed top speeds and acceleration times (0-100 km/h) to generate a speed score out of 100.

Ranking James Bond cars

This analysis covered over 150 Bond cars, which were then ranked accordingly.

First introduced in Casino Royale (2006), Daniel Craig‘s Bond drives the 2007 Aston Martin DBS V12.

In the film, the car is equipped with a spare gun and a defibrillator, but it is destroyed during Bond’s chase after Le Chiffre.

Capable of reaching speeds of 307 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, the DBS V12 is the fastest car, receiving a score of 98.48 out of 100.

The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish ranks as the second fastest, with a score of 98.29. Appearing in the twentieth Bond film Die Another Day (2002), this car is equipped with adaptive camouflage that renders it nearly invisible, earning it the playful nickname “Vanish”. Prominently featured in the film, the Vanquish can reach speeds of 309 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds.

In third place is the Aston Martin DB10, featured in Spectre (2015), with a score of 97.25. Created to commemorate a 50-year partnership between Aston Martin and the James Bond franchise, the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) famously assigned this model to Bond as a “totally bulletproof” vehicle. The DB10 reaches a top speed of 310 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.

Britain’s first supercar

Next on the list, with a score of 87.91, is the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Series II. Often referred to as “Britain’s First Supercar,” this vehicle can achieve speeds of up to 273 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. Featured in The Living Daylights (1987), it also makes a reappearance in No Time to Die (2021).

The fifth fastest car on the list is the BMW Z8, which appears in The World Is Not Enough (1999) and scores 84.89. This car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just five seconds and reaches a top speed of 254 km/h.

“In the film, Pierce Brosnan’s Bond drives the Z8 until it is sliced in half by a helicopter fitted with saws. The on-screen vehicle is equipped with surface-to-air missiles, a targeting display, and remote-control features.”

Rounding out the top 10 fastest cars are the BMW 750iL, with a score of 84.20; the Jaguar XJ (X351) LWB, at 83.88; the Aston Martin DB5, scoring 75.31; the Lotus Esprit Turbo 2.2, with a score of 73.57; and the Aston Martin DBS, at 73.47.

James Bond and class

Commenting on the findings, Daniël de Voer, chief editor of Dailybase, firstly said:

“James Bond epitomises timeless class and sophistication, and this elegance seamlessly translates into the luxury sports cars that grace the screen. Each vehicle is not just a mode of transportation but a symbol of Bond’s refined taste and the high-stakes world he inhabits.

These iconic cars do more than captivate audiences; they become legendary in their own right.

He also said: “Owning one of these remarkable vehicles is akin to stepping into Bond’s shoes and experiencing a touch of that secret agent magic. They offer an unparalleled driving experience and an opportunity to feel, if only for a moment, like the ultimate secret service agent.”
